My Story
The funny thing is, photography wasn't the original plan.
For a very long time, my life looked completely different. I had a 9 to 5 office job. A career some people dream of. I did all the things you're supposed to do, but I was addicted to taking photos so I decided to learn more about it and maybe just maybe take it on as a side hustle, I even did an extra degree to specialise in digital imagery. It took me years to call myself a photographer it was "too cool, too much of a dream I was aspiring to, I was never good enough" and then eventually I took the leap and it stopped being the thing on the side. More than 100 weddings later... here we are.
I fell in love with photography because I'm kinda obsessed with remembering things. Not just what it looked like, but what it felt like to be there. The people, the places. The completely insignificant little details that somehow become the things you'd give anything to see again 10 years later.
I want the photo where you look incredible, obviously! But I also want the one immediately after it, when you crack up laughing. The hand reaching into the frame, your mama watching from across the room. The kid who has had ENOUGH. Your best friend getting wild on the dance floor.
AND THEN THERE'S THE ACTUAL ME.
Always chasing the sun like it owes me money. Addicted to the moon like it might drop a secret if I stay up long enough. Wearing flannies with everything. No regrets.
Windows down over air-con. Bare feet over shoes. Face-to-face over text. Vinyl over Spotify. Camping over five-star hotels, although I’ve grown fond of good sheets and a door that locks properly.
I currently live in my beautiful little cottage in East Gippsland and
I recently bought the van I’d wanted for years and named her Lola. It took a car accident to finally make it happen. Very on brand. I don’t move gently through life. I ricochet. I reroute. I make meaning out of the detour.
I’ve always chased silver linings. Not because they’re obvious, but because I refuse to let the dark get the final word. Big skies steady me. Backyard dinners that turn into dance floors remind me why I care so much. I like people who mean what they say and stay when they say they will.
I can be sentimental. I can be stubborn. I romanticise road trips like they’re the opening scene of a film. I laugh loudly. I notice the shift in a room before anyone says it out loud. When things wobble, I don’t.
If you’re here for the photos, you already know the way I see the world.
If you’re here for the person behind them, this is her.
Still looking for the LOML.
In the meantime, very lucky to document the wildly in love.
